The story concerns the hapless René Artois, his wife, Edith and their waitresses Yvette and Mimi in their desperate attempts to outwit the Germans including the notorious Herr Flick of the Gestapo and keep on the right side of the Resistance. It is essential for them to retain possession of a certain notorious painting and to thwart a visit from the Fuhrer himself. This fast paced and hysterical farce played to sell-out houses on its original run at the London Palladium and on subsequent national and international tours and remains one of the most popular stage shows of all time.
