Sue’s first experience of “theatre” was playing the virgin Mary in her junior
school Nativity Play, she was hooked from that moment on and took an active part
in anything theatrical; or musical in school from then on, taking leading roles
in both plays and musicals all the way through her years in education.
In the late 70’s Sue discovered that there was a whole world of amateur theatre
out there and made a point of doing as much as possible, be it backstage,
playing in the orchestra or actually treading the boards.
After a few years “resting” Sue started to become active in theatre again in
1987 and in the 22 years since has taken part in 75 musical productions as
varied as “HMS Pinafore” and “The Little Shop of Horrors” and from opera to
panto as well as some “straight” acting. Sue is as happy in the chorus as taking
leading roles, which have been many and varied over the years including, Anna in
the “king and I”, Ruth in various versions of “The Pirates of Penzance” Maria in
“The Sound of Music” and the evil stepmother in Cinderella, she has also turned
her hand to production.
Sue is looking forward to playing the part of Geraldine in this production of
the Vicar of DIbley, but is not a little a little daunted by the scale of the
challenge it presents, Dawn French has certainly set the bar very high!
